Why is Multan called the mango capital of Pakistan?
Multan and its belt — Multan, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal and Rahim Yar Khan — grow the bulk of Pakistan's mango crop. Famous varieties like Chaunsa, Sindhri, Anwar Ratol and Dasheri pass through Multan's fruit mandi every summer, making it one of Asia's largest mango trading hubs. From May to August, thousands of peti (crates) arrive daily from orchards. This volume, plus grade-sensitive pricing, is exactly why Multan aam adhatis outgrow paper registers fast.
